Effective 21 October 2026 · Weather app (iOS, Android)

1. Who is responsible

VietTS ("we") develops and runs the Weather app. Send any question about personal data to c@vietts.dev.

2. No account

The app needs no sign-up. We do not collect your name, email address or phone number through the app.

3. Location

  • The app uses your location only when you allow it, to get forecasts and air quality and to show it on the map.
  • Coordinates are sent to our server, which rounds them to a cell of about 1 km (0.01°) before caching and before sending the rounded cell to our weather data provider, Open-Meteo. For air quality the cell is 0.25°.
  • Current conditions may come from the nearest airport station (public METAR data that the server downloads in bulk). Getting these reports does not send your location to anyone.
  • The name of your current place comes from your operating system's map service (Apple or Google).
  • What you type in place search is sent to our server and on to Open-Meteo's geocoding service.
  • The base map loads directly from OpenFreeMap (data © OpenStreetMap). While you view the map your device requests it from OpenFreeMap's servers, which receive your IP address and the area you are viewing. See openfreemap.org.
  • We do not sell your location and do not use it for advertising.

4. Data on your device

Saved places, preferences (theme, language, the profile chosen at first launch), temporary unlock times and ad frequency counters stay on your device. Uninstalling the app removes them.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

  • The free version shows Google AdMob ads. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers, IP address and device information to show and measure ads.
  • Where the law requires it (such as the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) the app asks for your consent through Google UMP. On iOS the app asks for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, ads are not personalised.
  • You can change your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy (when it is shown in your region).
  • More: Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from partner apps.

6. Premium (RevenueCat)

  • Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never receive your card details.
  • RevenueCat manages subscription status. It stores an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history so your subscription can be restored. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

7. Remote configuration (Firebase)

The app uses Firebase Remote Config (Google) to adjust ad frequency without an app update. It uses a Firebase installation ID. See Firebase privacy.

8. Server logs

Our servers keep technical logs (time, request path, IP address) to run the service and prevent abuse. These logs are not used for advertising.

9. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect children's data.

10. Legal bases, retention and location of data

  • We process location and search text to provide the service you ask for; we rely on your consent for personalised ads; and on legitimate interests (running the service, preventing abuse) for server logs.
  • Forecast data per cell is cached for at most 24 hours. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and security.
  • Our servers and those of the providers above (Open-Meteo, OpenFreeMap, Google, RevenueCat) may be located outside your country.

11. Your rights

Under Vietnamese personal data protection law and, where it applies, the GDPR, you may ask to know, access, correct or delete your data, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority. Write to c@vietts.dev. We reply within 30 days.

12. Changes

The effective date is shown at the top. We announce important changes in the app or on this page.
